A payment gateway can have the right API and still be the wrong choice for your business. It may connect to an acquirer that does not accept your sector, support deposits without your required withdrawal method, or offer a branded checkout without the infrastructure needed to operate a PSP.

A useful comparison starts with three questions: which provider will underwrite your business, who supplies the technology, and who carries settlement responsibility? Answer those before comparing routing features or integration counts.

This comparison is based on publicly available information reviewed on 12 October 2026. Provider capabilities, eligibility requirements and commercial terms may change. Payneteasy publishes this article and is included in the comparison. Inclusion does not imply endorsement by or approval from any provider. Verify current terms directly with each company.

How We Compared the Providers

We reviewed official provider materials available on 12 October 2026, prioritising product descriptions, dedicated iGaming pages and restricted-business policies over general homepage claims. Providers entered the main shortlist where those materials described relevant gateway, orchestration or acquiring services and explicitly addressed iGaming or gambling eligibility. Other providers are discussed separately where their software scope is relevant but gambling suitability remains unconfirmed, or where published restrictions limit their use.

The shortlist separates three purchasing needs:

These categories overlap, but they are not interchangeable. A software supplier’s connector catalogue does not establish merchant eligibility. A payment institution’s authorisation does not mean it accepts every gambling model.

This is a comparison of documented scope and potential fit, rather than a performance ranking. We have not independently tested the providers or compared negotiated offers. Payneteasy publishes this guide and is included in the comparison; the same distinction between published capabilities and merchant-specific approval applies to every entry.

AdyenPayment processing and acquiring infrastructure; published gambling eligibility restrictionsDirect merchants whose model and jurisdictions meet Adyen’s eligibility criteriaAccording to Adyen’s published Prohibited and Restricted list (reviewed 12 October 2026), “Legal gambling or Game of Skill” is marked Restricted (R) for the Merchant model and Prohibited (P) for the Platform/Partner model; US-based gambling services are listed as prohibited.

The entries describe different service layers and do not constitute a performance ranking. Inclusion does not guarantee merchant eligibility or payment performance.

The practical fit assessments are editorial judgments based on those published offerings. Inclusion does not imply that a provider will approve a particular merchant.

What High-Risk Means for This Comparison

High-risk is an acquiring assessment, not a single technical specification. Providers may consider the business activity, jurisdictions, transaction history, fraud and dispute exposure, and potential financial liabilities. The same merchant can receive different decisions or terms from different providers.

For iGaming, establish the exact activity: sports betting, casino gambling, a prize-based competition and selling video games are different business models. A page advertising “gaming payments” is not sufficient evidence of support for real-money gambling.

If you need the underlying processing and risk model, see our guide to high-risk payment processing. Here, the focus is on selecting suppliers for your particular operating model.

Gateway and White-Label Providers

Payneteasy: Branded Infrastructure and Multi-Provider Control

Payneteasy offers a white-label payment gateway for PSPs and a payment orchestration platform for merchants managing multiple providers. Its published offering includes routing and cascading, risk-management tools, reporting and reconciliation, alongside 1,000+ payment integrations across providers, methods and platforms. For an iGaming setup, confirm which connections support the required deposit and withdrawal flows under your acquiring agreements.

For a PSP serving iGaming merchants, the evaluation should start with a named list of existing and planned providers. Ask which connections support the required transaction types and which need configuration, testing or additional work. A headline integration count cannot answer those questions.

Payneteasy is a technology platform. It is not a bank or payment facilitator, does not provide merchant accounts and does not aggregate merchant funds. Acquiring approval, commercial terms and settlement responsibilities remain with the relevant parties.

Editorial assessment — consider this provider when: your business needs to operate payment infrastructure across several providers or deliver a branded gateway service.

Key question: can the proposed configuration support your actual provider relationships, rather than only demonstrate a generic payment flow?

Akurateco: White-Label Software for Payment Businesses

Akurateco describes its white-label PSP solution as a platform for launching or scaling a payment service provider.

Its published scope includes the gateway, routing, merchant management, billing and risk tools, with branded payment pages and a merchant portal.

That makes it relevant to a PSP infrastructure decision. An operator looking only for an acquiring relationship should first establish whether it needs this software scope or a provider willing to underwrite its business.

Editorial assessment — consider this provider when: your payment business needs a gateway under its own brand and wants to assess a packaged software alternative to development.

Key question: which merchant-management and financial-control functions are included in the proposed package, and which remain with your team or acquiring partners?

Payment Orchestration Platforms

Corefy: Coordinating iGaming Deposits and Payouts

Corefy’s dedicated iGaming offering describes an orchestration layer over existing payment providers, with deposit routing, cascading, payout automation and a unified dashboard.

Its relevance is clearest when an operator has several PSP relationships and needs to coordinate them across markets or brands. The procurement task is to verify the required connections and operational workflows, including withdrawal failures and reporting.

Deposit coverage and payout coverage should be evaluated separately. A connected provider may support one flow but require a different agreement, configuration or method for the other.

Editorial assessment — consider this provider when: fragmented provider integrations and reporting are creating operational work for an iGaming payment team.

Key question: can the platform demonstrate your required deposit and withdrawal journeys, including exceptions, through the providers you intend to use?

Acquiring and Payment Processing for Gambling Merchants

PAYSTRAX: A Dedicated iGaming Acquiring Proposition

PAYSTRAX publishes a dedicated gaming and gambling page on which it describes its offering as combining payment gateway services with direct acquiring for iGaming merchants (reviewed 2026-10-12).

A merchant evaluating PAYSTRAX should begin with underwriting and commercial scope: its legal entity, gambling licence, player markets, currencies, expected volumes and transaction history. The resulting acquiring offer matters more than a general statement of industry coverage.

Editorial assessment — consider this provider when: you need an acquiring counterparty that explicitly presents an iGaming proposition.

Key question: which activities and markets will the contracting entity approve, and what fees, reserves, settlement schedules and termination conditions apply?

Official source: PAYSTRAX iGaming Payments.

Adyen: Conditional Eligibility for Direct Merchants

According to Adyen’s published Prohibited and Restricted Products & Services list (reviewed 2026-10-12), “Legal gambling or Game of Skill” is classified as Restricted (R) under the Merchant business model and Prohibited (P) under the Platform / Partner business model. The same list classifies US-based gambling services as prohibited. Policies may change; verify the current version directly on Adyen’s page before acting on this information.

Editorial assessment — consider this provider when: you are a direct merchant whose activity and jurisdictions meet its current criteria.

Key question: does Adyen approve your exact entity, activity and markets in writing?

Why Other Familiar Providers Are Not Automatically on the Shortlist

A credible high-risk payment gateway comparison needs an exclusion test as well as a feature list.

ProviderWhat the reviewed material establishesWhy further qualification is needed
StripeStripe’s UK-facing Prohibited and Restricted Businesses policy lists internet gambling and specified prize-based activities under Prohibited Businesses. Consult the policy for the exact categories and any applicable jurisdiction-specific provisions.General payment capabilities do not make Stripe a standard recommendation for real-money gambling.
SolidgateIts published materials describe payment orchestration alongside other payment services (reviewed 2026-10-12); its gambling eligibility is not stated on the reviewed pages. Those capabilities do not establish acceptance of a particular gambling business. Confirm eligibility before evaluating it for iGaming.
SDK.financeIt offers white-label payment gateway and PSP software, alongside wallet and ledger infrastructureIts gateway and PSP software are relevant to infrastructure evaluations, but the reviewed materials do not establish support for the specific gambling activity, provider connections and payment flows required by an iGaming operator.
NomupayNomupay’s gaming page describes video-game commerce use cases. Its separate support page, “Which products and businesses are prohibited?”, lists gambling among prohibited categories.Confirm which policy applies to the proposed service and contracting entity before considering Nomupay for real-money gambling.
WorldlineIt offers online payment gateway services and acquiring productsConfirm the relevant product, contracting entity and current gambling acceptance policy before including it in a merchant-specific shortlist.

An unconfirmed scope is not evidence that a provider cannot support your business. It means the available product description is insufficient to recommend it for that use case.

How to Compare iGaming Payment Provider Proposals

Send Every Provider the Same Operating Brief

Give candidates a common brief covering your legal entity, business activity, licences, target customer markets, currencies, expected volumes, payment methods and existing acquiring relationships.

Separate the requirements for deposits, withdrawals, refunds and disputes. If you operate several brands, identify which legal entity and merchant account serves each one.

This makes proposals comparable. Otherwise, one supplier may quote gateway software, another an acquiring service, and a third an orchestration package with different assumptions.

Request a Market-by-Method Acceptance Matrix

Ask each candidate to complete a table for the markets that matter to your business:

Required fieldEvidence to request
Merchant entity and activityWritten confirmation of eligibility or the outstanding underwriting requirements
Customer market and currencyPermitted traffic under the proposed agreement
Deposit methodAvailability for this merchant and activity, including restrictions
Withdrawal methodSupported destination, currency, limits and completion-status information
Contracting and settlement partiesNamed entities, responsibilities and applicable agreements
Production readinessRemaining approvals, configuration, testing and dependencies

A payment method appearing on a website is only the start. The decision depends on whether your approved business can use it for the intended flow.

Compare Available Funds Alongside Fees

Ask for gateway or orchestration fees separately from acquiring charges, foreign-exchange costs, dispute fees and payout costs.

Where reserves apply, obtain the calculation basis, holding period, release schedule and treatment after termination. Review when proceeds become available, which deductions can apply and how settlement statements explain them.

A lower processing rate may offer less practical value if the associated terms create cash-flow pressure. Compare proposals using the same volume and market assumptions.

Check Withdrawals as Carefully as Deposits

For an iGaming operator, a successful deposit is only part of the payment experience.

Ask providers to demonstrate how a withdrawal is submitted, tracked and completed. What happens if it is rejected, remains pending or cannot reach the original payment method? Which records allow support and finance teams to identify the next action?

Distinguish the operator’s internal approval time from the payment provider’s processing time and the receiving institution’s delivery time. A single advertised payout-speed figure may not describe the complete journey.

Require Controlled Retry Behaviour

Ask how each candidate distinguishes an issuer decline, a provider restriction, an authentication issue and a technical timeout.

Routing to an alternative provider must stay within the merchant’s approved arrangements and applicable rules. Cascading should not mean resubmitting every failed payment. Visa’s published guidance, for example, identifies decline categories that must not be reattempted.

For an unanswered request, ask how the system establishes the original transaction’s status and prevents duplicate processing before taking further action.

Verify Security and Regulatory Responsibilities Separately

PCI DSS concerns payment-data security. It is not a payment institution authorisation or a gambling licence. Review current compliance evidence, the services it covers and the responsibilities retained by your implementation.

The PCI Security Standards Council confirms that outsourcing processing does not remove a merchant’s responsibility to ensure account data is protected.

For online casino and betting operators serving consumers in Great Britain, payment-method selection must also reflect the Gambling Commission’s credit-card ban, including credit-card payments through a money service business. A generic list of accepted card brands is insufficient.

Which Provider Model Fits Your Business?

Your immediate needStart the evaluation with
An approved relationship for accepting gambling paymentsAn acquiring or processing provider willing to assess the exact business
Coordinated deposits and withdrawals across several existing PSPsAn orchestration platform with the required connections and workflows
A gateway service under your PSP’s own brandWhite-label gateway infrastructure and the associated operating responsibilities
Wallet balances or a broader fintech productWallet or ledger software, with separate assessment of payment and regulatory arrangements

You may need more than one category. An operator can retain an approved acquirer while adding orchestration; a PSP can buy white-label technology while maintaining its own merchant and acquiring relationships.

The right shortlist follows the missing capability in your operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a High-Risk Gateway Provide a Merchant Account?

A gateway-only supplier provides payment technology. An acquiring provider or an appropriately structured PSP relationship determines whether the merchant can accept payments and on what terms. Some businesses bundle these services, so ask which legal entity supplies each part. Payneteasy provides technology and does not provide merchant accounts.

Does Support for Gaming Include Online Gambling?

Not necessarily. Gaming can mean selling video games, subscriptions, virtual goods or marketplace services. Real-money casino gambling, betting and prize-based activities can have different legal and provider restrictions. Obtain confirmation for the exact activity and markets.

Can Player Withdrawals Use Every Method Available for Deposits?

Do not assume so. Deposit and withdrawal support can differ by method, provider, market and agreement. Confirm the permitted destination, verification requirements, limits, processing flow and handling of failed withdrawals before offering the method to players.

What Evidence Should a Provider Supply Before Signing?

Request the proposed service scope, eligibility confirmation or outstanding underwriting conditions, market-and-method coverage, contracting entities, settlement and reserve terms, applicable security documentation, and an implementation plan. Software demonstrations should use the workflows your business actually needs.
